Fossil fuels — the most important sources of power for heat, light, mobility and communications — comprise the vast majority of the world’s energy consumption. Atlas Pipeline helps to provide more affordable, accessible and increasingly cleaner energy through its natural gas midstream operation.
In our efforts to promote sustainability in the oil and gas industry, Atlas Pipeline has achieved the following over the past few years:
- Replaced gas-fired engines with electric-driven engines at the Velma plant, greatly reducing facility fuel demand while decreasing pollutant emissions to the atmosphere by more than 2000 tons per year
- Utilized an underground disposal well at the Velma plant, reducing the carbon footprint of the company
- Enforced proper handling of solid wastes, ensuring that they are collected, transported and disposed in accordance with applicable laws
- Utilized licensed and certified contractors for specific energy and environmental activities
- Improved regulatory compliance through development and investment in advanced technologies to meet the growing demand for affordable energy products while improving security of supply and reducing environmental impact
